African Unity Group offers a gap or shortfall insurance cover known as African Unity gap insurance. This is in response to a need in the medical insurance market where it has been noticed that many members of various medical aids are left with a shortfall that their membership will not cover, leaving them in financial distress.
Due to these unfortunate developments, gap cover providers have stepped in to bridge the shortfall between medical aid limits and the actual cost of medical care that is being experienced by many medical aid members across South Africa. It has been reported widely that many families are being left financially ruined by specialist fees that medical aid will either not pay for entirely or only pay for partially.
Gap Cover Deals with African Unity
Enter African Unity. Their comprehensive and inexpensive gap cover products are just one among a whole host of insurance-based products that they offer, both for the long and short terms such as Health Insurance, Property Insurance, Life Insurance, amongst others.
If you are considering African Unity’s Gap Cover, there a several stipulations that you will have to satisfy in order to be considered, the first one is being a registered member of a medical aid scheme. This is because the gap cover is meant to pay for any shortfall you may experience should your medical aid scheme not pay for a particular hospital procedure or specialist.
Within health insurance products, gap cover is classified as a short-term cover, which is designed to provide inexpensive insurance from shortfalls in medical costs. These deficits can at times amount to a lot of money, which would otherwise have to be paid for out of pocket. Not too many people have that kind of money to hand at a moment’s notice.
